*This is a remote contract for 3-4 months with a requirement of 30 hours per week and is eligible for contract-to-hire evaluation upon completion of contract.  Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and be resident in a United States time zone.

When you join us on the FluoroFinder development team, you will be part of a small entrepreneurial driven team that provides innovative software solutions to the life science community.

The Software Developer will join a multi-functional team designing applications to aid in groundbreaking high-speed cellular research! You will work closely our lead software engineers and application teams to develop and define web-based applications that support a global network of researchers designing experiments with our platform. Your efforts are highly visible, immediately impactful, and are seen directly by scientists around the world.

What will you do?

You will assist in the development of new applications for the FluoroFinder platform; participate and collaborate in product development for existing and new tools.

  • Effectively apply modern coding principles and best practices to produce quality, scalable, documented, maintainable code.
  • Perform all phases of software development including design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance of software.
  • Use your strong communication and collaboration skills to work directly with other developers and with stakeholders such as marketing, customer support, enterprise support, and data-management team members.

Technical Experience and Skills:

You have experience building and maintaining real-time, interactive software using:

  • Client-side JavaScript
  • HTML, CSS/SASS
  • UX/UX design best practices

Preferred Experience

Preferred candidates also have experience in:

  • Ruby on Rails development
  • PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Software development for the scientific community

Other Roles and Responsibilities

  • Experience with responsive web design.
  • Application of web application UI/UX best practices.
  • Desire to contribute to and make improvements to the UI architecture.
  • Comfortable using version control (git & GitHub) and story-tracking systems (Pivotal).
